18th May 2024

Lymm May Queen is a traditional family highlight in the village calendar. Originally known as Lymm & Oughtrington Bank of Hope Festival, the first ever crowning was held in 1889. At that time the Queen was chosen from various Chapels in turn. The very first Queen was Miss Amy Astley from the Congregational Church. Join us on the 18th May 2024 Lymm May Queen Festival where there will be a procession starting at 12pm leading up to the festival on Lymm May Queen field, with children’s rides, a variety of live acts in the May Queen arena, stalls and food & drink for everyone to enjoy.

What to expect this year

The Lymm May Queen festival is a fabulous, family oriented annual event held in the village of Lymm, Cheshire. The event, dating back to 1889, celebrates the tradition of crowning the May Queen and Rose Queen, who traditionally led the May Day celebrations. The May Queen festival really kicks off the summer of festivities in Lymm Village in style. This year, the Lymm May Queen festival is being held on Saturday the 18th May 2024. The event in Lymm consists of 2 main parts, a beautiful procession through the village, and also a festival held on the Lymm May Queen field. Timings for the event for this year will be confirmed soon, however it usually kicks off around 11am on the field with the main procession through the village at 12noon.
